As a child, Lisa of Asaka always had a vision of herself as an older, slightly eccentric potter– crafting and creating away in a shed at the bottom of her overgrown, yet gorgeous garden. And whilst she is still in search of the shed, she is, day by day, becoming that slightly left of field ceramic artist.
Lisa is a ceramicist living and working locally, her home studio in Ivanhoe is where she createsher one of a kind wheel-thrown vessel. Designed for everyday functional use, Lisa makesbowls, plates, teacups, mugs, planter pots and much more.
Inspired by her surroundings here in Melbourne, travels around the world, her(equally left of centre) friends and her beginnings in Scotland, each piece is created with a little bit of“Lisa” thrown in for measure. Her current work focuses on creating functional forms and simple objects that express materiality, quietness and space.
“I hope you enjoy my creations as much as I enjoy making them. And I hope, that they become a part of your story too.”
