Local Melbourne artisan Zib Aitken-Valkenburg has created the skin care range of our dreams after spending time honing her craft in Southern France. “Soap Club: For everybody who believes that products should be gender neutral, cruelty free, locally made and natural.”
Zibby believes that soap and skincare products needn’t be harsh to be effective. All Soap Club products are plant based and made from coconut, olive and other vitamin rich oils, butters and waxes. Avoiding irritating synthetic detergents, PEG, artificial fragrances, formaldehyde releasing preservatives, parabens and petroleum derived ingredients and favour natural ingredients. Holding the belief that animals and the environment shouldn’t have to suffer for the softness of our skin, all Soap Club products are free from animal and endangered plant products, including palm oil. Their products are packaged in handmade and recyclable materials, using 100% recycled paper for their candle boxes, business cards and paper labels.
While many soap and skincare products are marketed at men and women separately, Soap Club knows that preferences for different scents and ingredients are a matter of taste, not gender. They avoid outdated, gendered packaging. Cedarwood or geranium? The choice is yours.
Soap Club are passionate about traditional techniques, their soap is not only hand crafted in Melbourne, but ingredients are sourced locally wherever possible. From their olive oil to essential oils, botanicals and packaging, everything is Australian made. Their ceramics are made by Lucile of La petite fabrique de Brunswick who is also stocked with us, you can check her out on our Makers page!
